SUMMARY:RAT RAT RAT
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Class!\nWe're so glad you could join us today.\n\nPlease take a seat\, nice and quietly\, eyes forward\, and keep your paws where we can see them. The lesson will begin very soon.\nWhen it's time to obey\, don't hesitate. You'll get used to it quickly.\n\nIt's a lovely system\, really\, you might even find it comforting\, the way each step follows the last without question.\n\nAlthough... sometimes the lesson goes a little further than expected. \nUsually\, it's because we have a student who isn't behaving properly. \nA bad Rat.\n\nIt's a shame even though our instructions are so clear\, they still fail to follow and start having their own thoughts.\n\nBut it's nothing to worry about. \nEveryone eventually finds their place in our system and a way to contribute.\n\nThere's nothing you need to do. You're doing very well. Just keep watching.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/rat-rat-rat-097f826d-1388-4b5e-91de-6bd04a2c0edc

SUMMARY:Washed Ashore
DESCRIPTION:Washed Ashore is about two men\; Nigerian and Pakistani who are stranded on an Imaginary island whilst trying to get to the UK. The play explores the challenges refugees undertake on their route to the UK. The piece explores the politics of borders\, migration\, and human togetherness in this piece. We build on this by making the story personal and intimate. Theatrically we have a texture of dreamlike quality which engages the audience even more. We are exploring this story through the specific lens of both their respective cultures\, language and sensibilities. We are unpacking the effects of British colonialism and how that manifests in moments of crisis for them both. \n\nAs artists of global heritage\, we wanted to create work that intersected with the current political climate in the UK. With the continued growth of refugee issues\, we were drawn to this topic and wanted to do it justice by focusing on the wholeness and individuality that is often disregarded in people who migrate across the world. With our Pakistani and Nigerian heritage\, we were able to one of a kind piece of theatre\, that blended different languages\, cultural norms and aspirations\, alongside the hope for survival.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/washed-ashore-6ab1854d-8aa6-47ce-84fd-305fcf616f27

SUMMARY:Orlando
DESCRIPTION:SISSY: Advice to the young. It's only dress-up. Don't let it ruin your life.\n\nThree boys\, hunting on palace grounds\, spot a girl. Two strangers skate together on the frozen River Thames. A young man and a married crossdresser meet for a playdate. Centuries pass\, and Orlando has just bought a plane ticket to Neukölln\, Berlin.\n\nPart pornographic bildungsroman\, part frosted fever dream\, Orlando: A Pornobiography is a restless transmission across time. Gliding between the surreal and the hyperreal\, this unruly epic sees the 16th Century ring a phone sex hotline to find the 21st Century on the other end of the line\, asking for a body capable of surviving its own desire.\n\nAcross erotic entanglements\, historical ruptures\, and queer intrusions\, an ensemble of transfemme performers tear through Virginia Woolf's Orlando in this brazen anti-adaptation\, a world premiere from award-winning duo piss / CARNATION.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/orlando-8e07e40a-d3f8-4082-b7e4-4aa7456f2033

SUMMARY:Sharp Edges
DESCRIPTION:Ellie has been planning this for years. \n\nShe's on the precipice. She's going to do something. \n\nEllie's mum is kicking her out\, so she has one final chance to do the thing she always promised herself she'd do\; the only thing she's convinced will correct the wrongs of the past. As Ellie prepares for the biggest moment of her life\, she will be forced to face the truth about her childhood\, her family- and herself. But Ellie's motivations are not what they seem\, and as she hurtles towards her reckoning\, her struggle interrogates the possibility and meaning of justice in an increasingly violent world.\n\nSHARP EDGES explores themes of justice\, grief and familial violence through a contemporary and darkly funny lens\, taking the inspiration of a classic story - Sophocles' Electra - and transforming it into something deeply relatable and present.\n\nWritten by and starring Sophie Max\, directed by Blair McAlpine.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/sharp-edges-df0ed635-feef-43bd-a51d-6ee5eff97607

But Ellie's motivations are not what they seem\, and as she hurtles towards her reckoning\, her struggle interrogates the possibility and meaning of justice in an increasingly violent world.\n\nSHARP EDGES explores themes of justice\, grief and familial violence through a contemporary and darkly funny lens\, taking the inspiration of a classic story - Sophocles' Electra - and transforming it into something deeply relatable and present.\n\nWritten by and starring Sophie Max\, directed by Blair McAlpine.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/sharp-edges-ba2c5df2-d05f-49a2-bc68-1de6af2ea3fb

SUMMARY:Tripping Out (WIP)
DESCRIPTION:What can you be made to do? Would you notice if you were part of an experiment?\n\nThe CIA wanted to discover whether mind control was possible. They called the programme MK ULTRA.\n\nTripping Out explores one of the Cold War's most notorious secret programmes and its relationship with the countercultural movement of the 1960s. Drawing on declassified documents\, testimonies\, archival imagery\, and historical research the piece is part history play\, part mind control experiment\, part LSD light show. We ask what people can be made to do and how belief can be shaped? Why is this secret history still echoing through today's world of conspiracy theories\, political distrust\, and competing realities?\n\nCreated by Compact Disc\, an experimental performance\, live art\, and video collective making work that feels dangerous.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/tripping-out-wip-aeea9801-5214-43ed-b0f8-da3bfb67e02b

SUMMARY:Washed Ashore (WIP)
With our Pakistani and Nigerian heritage\, we were able to one of a kind piece of theatre\, that blended different languages\, cultural norms and aspirations\, alongside the hope for survival.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/washed-ashore-wip-77e40fb1-48b4-4fb6-b7e5-80c0fb9a879d

Gliding between the surreal and the hyperreal\, this unruly epic sees the 16th Century ring a phone sex hotline to find the 21st Century on the other end of the line\, asking for a body capable of surviving its own desire.\n\nAcross erotic entanglements\, historical ruptures\, and queer intrusions\, an ensemble of transfemme performers tear through Virginia Woolf's Orlando in this brazen anti-adaptation\, a world premiere from award-winning duo piss / CARNATION.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/orlando-eac499c9-d624-4997-bad3-bd31f6a3fc8b

SUMMARY:This Offers No Solutions (WIP)
DESCRIPTION:'This offers no solutions is a piece that uses stand-up comedy\, live sound and dance to follow the story of an introverted IT worker whose sense of self is shattered when he encounters a glitch that he cannot rectify. \n\nIt follows Luke\, a repressed IT worker whose carefully ordered world begins to fracture when he realises he wants to become - no\, I can't say it. \n\nAs Luke's reality glitches between office culture\, online spaces and increasingly surreal encounters\, identities slip\, language breaks apart and transformation refuses to settle into something tidy. Humour collides with theatrical experimentation to create a sonically rich\, shape-shifting world where voices multiply\, bodies misbehave and certainty is always just out of reach.\n\nDrawing inspiration from Glitch Feminism\, this offers no solutions playfully unpicks ideas of identity\, professionalism and visibility without offering easy answers. Instead\, it invites audiences into an absurd\, and unexpectedly earnest exploration of what happens when the systems we're expected to fit inside stop making sense - and when becoming something else might be the only way forward.\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/this-offers-no-solutions-wip-52e2b77c-0ff5-4d4a-bf57-0ab28b8d91c6

SUMMARY:Boys Beware (WIP)
DESCRIPTION:Boys Beware is a work of performance art theatre that examines Jamaican queer youth\, folk-horror\, young love\, and the pursuit of freedom under the homophobic structures of the Caribbean state. Navigating violence\, desire\, liberation and death\, Boys Beware is a surrealist play that explores how colonialism continues to govern islands\, bodies\, and identity. The play asks what liberation looks like when even the self has become contested territory.\n\nThe island as a body\, the body as an island. By undergoing a self operative Polysomnography\, a boy splits into several people\, places and things as he attempts to understand precisely how religion and colonialism form weapons against his own identity as well as the identity of his homeland.\n\nWritten & Directed by Alexander Gallimore\n\nhttps://www.townspot.co/event/boys-beware-wip-fa5d62a4-c029-41a4-ac39-8551cf247ef8
